The first generation QX56 has been a great selling vehicle and for the 2011 model year this full-sized luxury SUV has been redesigned from the ground up. Beginning with the exterior treatment, the QX56 has taken a cue from its stylish little brother; the FX35. The new 2011 Infiniti QX56 remains about the same price as the previous generation, but it is so much better in almost every way.
The QX56 is now motivated by a 5.6 liter V-8 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. This represents a 25% gain over the 2010 model. Fuel Economy is also better and the QX56 should see a 10% gain across the board which will equate to 20 MPG on the highway. These increases in gas mileage are attributed to an efficient 7-speed automatic transmission, VVEL timing, and Direct Injection. The new QX56 can also tow up to 8500 pounds and is available in a 2 or 4 wheel drive configuration.
The interior of the QX56 feature the best luxurious materials combined with the features and amenities you have come to expect from Infiniti. The leather and wood trim are world-class. You have the option of a 7 or 8 person seating arrangement. With the 7 person configuration, the 2011 QX56 features spacious and comfortable seats separated by a rear center console. There are huge 7-inch color T.V.’s in the headrests and a Bose 13-Speaker Sound System to provide the in car audio. Navigation is standard as is the 3-zone climate control which also purifies the interior air. The vehicle has many more entertainment features and options to choose from.
Safety is a major concern and Infiniti is on the cutting edge. The new QX56 is packed with many features and options to keep you and your family safe while on the road. The Infiniti Safety Shield concept has in place a couple of safety systems that when layered together produce a thorough system. The ABBS or Advanced Air Bag System features front air bags, seat mounted side-impact bags, and roof mounted curtain airbags to protect all 3 rows in case of a roll-over. There are special seat belt tensioners that adjust for load in the event of a collision. The construction of the QX56 also includes crumple zones to lessen the forces occurred in an accident.
Next, the 2011 Infiniti QX56 has Intelligent Brake Assist which can alert the driver of an impending collision and even apply the brakes. A Blind Spot Warning system is an optional feature that alerts the driver is there are vehicles riding in the Blind Spot of the QX56. The Lane Departure Prevention system warns the operator of the SUV if they begin to drift out of lanes. Two other features present on the QX56 are the Intelligent Cruise Control which adapts to the speed of the automobile in front of you and the Distance Control Assist which helps the driver with throttle control in heavy traffic conditions.
Even with all these new additions and features, the new Infiniti QX56 weighs almost 100 pounds less than the previous generation. And the best part is the base price will remain about the same.
