Houston 2016 INFINITI Q50 Gets Power Boost
The new 2016 Infiniti Q50 Sports Sedan will be available with more powerful and efficient engines. During a special media preview prior to their appearance at the upcoming North American International Auto Show, Infiniti announced that the new model will be available with a choice of three new turbocharged engines.
When the Q50 Red Sport 400 model is released next spring it will be offered with a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo high-output V6 engine. The 400 hp engine will deliver the highest standard horsepower in its class. The engine block and cylinder heads will be built with lightweight aluminum-alloy and will be more compact than in previous models. A gasoline direct injection system, optimized turbine blade design, turbine speed sensor, water-cooled engine charging, e-motor valve timing control and an integrated exhaust manifold make this new V6 the most advanced engine offered by Infiniti.
A new 300-horsepower VR-series version of the Q50 engine will be available across the model lineup and will replace the 3.7-liter VQ-series V6 engines in current Infiniti models. The new 2016 Infiniti Q50 lineup will also be offered with a 208-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo inline 4-cylinder engine (base and Premium Q50 2.0t models) beginning in late winter. A hybrid Q50 model will be offered as well and powered by a 3.5-liter gasoline-electric hybrid system with a net 360 horsepower rating.
