INFINITI’s Project Black S Concept Unveiled

A radical new interpretation of the INFINITI Q60 Coupe has made its debut at the Geneva International Motor Show. This high-performance concept vehicle features a hybrid powertrain inspired by Formula One energy recovery systems (ERS). The experimental powertrain was developed in collaboration with the Renault Sport Formula One Team.

INFINITI 'Project Black S' Geneva Motor Show

The specialized INFINITI ERS system captures energy and deploys recovered electric power to boost power and torque. This concept powertrain delivers instant, lag-free acceleration and does not yet exist in current road cars. New ‘Black S’ grade concept models could represent the highest level of performance and capability offered by INFINITI.

The Formula One-inspired, high-performance hybrid powertrain is complimented by a sleek, carbon fiber body design with motorsport DNA. A lighter body structure, enhanced cooling and efficient aerodynamic styling make this concept car a unique consumer grade, high performance, automobile.

“Project Black S is a daring and elevated representation of INFINITI’s performance DNA. It expresses our desire to create cars that are designed to perform, marrying the potency of a high-performance powertrain with a muscular new design. This project has given us the opportunity to experiment with advanced materials to create a performance-inspired aesthetic that draws on INFINITI’s motorsport ties through the Alliance.” – Alfonso Albaisa, Executive Design Director, INFINITI

INFINITI 'Project Black S' Q60 Sports Coupe
