INFINITI QX50 Concept Unveiled
Earlier this month INFINITI unveiled the QX50 Concept Mid-Size Premium Crossover. This new concept model represents an evolution of the 2016 QX Sport Inspiration and several new autonomous drive support features. Muscular and dynamic styling with a new cabin-forward design are predominant as INFINITI strives for ‘Powerful Elegance’ in future models.
Heavily influenced by 2016 QX Sport models the new 2017 QX50 concept design follows the same styling cues with muscular lines and heavily profiled surfaces. It has the same wide, stance and is clearly identified by INFINITI’S large, double-arch grille. The concept model displays a newly-created Forged Bronze paint finish with three times more metal flake than any production model paint finish.
Sleek and chiseled exterior lines help to create the illusion of a longer body although the front end is more compact than other production models. With significant strides made in INFINITI’s compact, VC-Turbo engine, this model hints at a shorter and more efficient body frame across all future models.
Although shorter than some current production models, the cabin of the QX50 concept is spacious and well engineered. Careful attention has been paid to interior surfaces to establish new trends in future crossover cabin designs. High-gloss woods and soft-touch plastics have been replaced with authentic, modern surfaces of wood, leather and stitching. A variety of leathers have been used for a rich texture and color palette with this model suggesting a range of new interior finishes including a new, three-tone color scheme.
Beyond its captivating appearance, the QX50 concept spotlights the development strategy of INFINITI’s autonomous drive support systems. New drive support technologies include autonomous navigation of stop-start traffic on the highway and systems for keeping track of locations of surrounding vehicles. These technologies would enhance existing features such as Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Direct Adaptive Steering and Active Lane Control. All drive support systems have been designed with the goal to make driving less stressful and ensure the driver retains control over the vehicle.
The QX50 Concept allows a glimpse at INFINITI’s vision for the next generation of mid-size premium crossover models. As always, we are excited to see new styling, engineering and innovative technology in each of INFINITI model available now and in the future.
