INFINITI Zero Gravity Seats Inspired by Space Age Innovation

Fifty years ago people around the world witnessed the Apollo 11 moon landing on their black and white television sets. This historic event sparked a technological innovation revolution. To this day, we continue to benefit from space-race advancements, many of which have improved our own health and wellbeing.

Ever since NASA successfully landed a man on the moon on July 20, 1969, space travel has contributed to the development of modern-day technologies with breakthroughs in computerization, the development of advanced materials and composites, and even innovations that can improve our health.

A NASA engineer used technical expertise he learned while working on the space shuttle program to invent the first cochlear implant technology. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world suffering from profound hearing loss have since benefitted from this space-age device.

NASA also developed the fitted temper foam for airline seats to improve the probability that occupants could survive a crash. That same foam is now found in comfortable memory foam mattresses.

Comfort has also made a small step – or giant leap – in our everyday lives with INFINITI’s advanced Zero Gravity seats. Featured in the QX50 luxury midsize crossover and Q60 sports coupe, these seats are designed to maximize comfort on longer drives.

Mike Colleran, Division Vice President, Global Marketing and Sales Operations, and Deputy MC-Chairman, said: “Inspired by the feeling of weightlessness in space, INFINITI’s Zero Gravity seats attempt to replicate the experience felt by astronauts in zero-gravity conditions.”

Understanding the science behind the development of zero gravity is vital in understanding the benefits of a comfortable driving position. “INFINITI drew on findings from a joint study with Tokyo’s Keio University,” added Colleran. “We worked with the team at the university’s Yamazaki Laboratory to measure our seat design against NASA’s own standards for neutral body posture. It’s a space-age development which has trickled down into INFINITI’s cars, helping us to fundamentally alter the design of our seats to emphasize spinal support and comfort.”

Our INFINITI Dealership in Houston is always pleased to bring you updates about the latest innovations in INFINITI vehicles. Please contact us if you have any questions about specific models or features.

2019 INFINITI Q60 vs. The Competition

The 2019 INFINITI Q60 is an elegant, powerful and smart sports sedan. This luxury car has plenty to offer including several features not available on vehicles in the same class. The following is a comparison between the new 2019 INFINITI Q60 and other popular 2019 luxury models.

For those who want more power under the hood the 2019 Q60 is the best choice. Its standard 3.0L V6 twin-turbo charged engine delivers 300 horsepower outranking the 2019 Lexus RC300 with 241 hp and the 2019 BMW 430i with 248 hp. Even the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 with 255 horsepower is unable to match the new Q60.

The new Q60 offers better handling with an available class-exclusive Direct Adaptive Steering® system that provides quicker and smoother handling than the competition. Direct Adaptive Steering is not available for the 2019 Lexus RC, BMW 4 Series, Mercedes-Benz Class-C Coupe or Cadillac ATS Coupe.

2019 INFINITI Q60

While other competitors in its class offer top view cameras, only the 2019 Q60’s available Around View® Monitor system includes a class-exclusive Moving Object Detection feature, which can alert you to objects it detects moving in the display image. Moving Object Detection is not available on the 2019 Lexus RC, BMW 4 Series, Mercedes-Benz Class-C Coupe or Cadillac ATS Coupe.

Other clever safety features such as Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Backup Collision Intervention are available on the 2019 INFINITI Q60 but missing from the list of features on competing models. While competitors offer systems that monitor the relative speed and distance of the vehicle in front of you, only the 2019 Q60’s available Predictive Forward Collision Warning tracks the vehicle in front of that one as well. INFINTI’s Backup Collision Intervention system helps detect and alert drivers to large objects and crossing or approaching vehicles when the car is in reverse. This feature can also apply brakes when necessary to prevent a collision. 2019 LEXUS RC, BMW 4 SERIES and the 2019 MERCEDES BENZ C-CLASS COUPE are not available with either of these features.

2019 INFINITI Q60 Dash

New Q60 drivers will enjoy INFINTI’s class-exclusive dual display system screens. The Q60 is equipped with two color screens: an 8 inch upper and a 7 inch lower display that allow drivers to efficiently access systems like climate control, navigation, and all of the functionality of the INFINITI InTouch™ system. Only a single screen on the center stack is available for the 2019 LEXUS RC, BMW 4 SERIES and the 2019 Cadillac ATS Coupe.

Our Houston INFINITI Dealership is happy to help you complete your research across the wide selection of luxury sports sedans currently available. We are here to answer your questions and arrange a hassle-free test drive at your earliest convenience.

INFINITI VC-Turbo Engine Gets High Scores in The International Engine + Powertrain of the Year Awards

The INFINITI VC-Turbo is the world’s first variable compression ratio engine and has recently been recognized with high scores at The International Engine + Powertrain of the Year Awards. The 272PS (268 horsepower) VC-Turbo was named in two key categories: 250PS to 350PS and Best New Engine, competing with other engines and powertrains the automotive industry has launched this year.

With the ability to switch between compression ratios of 8:1 (for power) and 14:1 (for efficiency) in just over a second the VC-Turbo engine is intuitive and responsive. It can also operate at any ratio between the two to suit the demands of the driver and road conditions. The engine was first introduced in the 2019 INFINITI QX50 midsize luxury SUV, which also features standout design and unrivaled interior space, all on an entirely new platform. The VC-Turbo engine is seen as a bridge to electrification for INFINITI, as the company moves to revealing an electrified product portfolio within the next few years.

2019 INFINITI QX50

Results for The International Engine + Powertrain of the Year Awards were determined by a jury of 70 automotive journalists representing 31 countries and many more publications. Their findings highlighted the global impact made by the new VC-Turbo engine.

“Aside from gaining a big advantage over rival brands with this technology, INFINITI and Nissan might just have saved the internal combustion engine as we know it,” said Dean Slavnich, co-chairman of the awards. “And in doing so, it has secured their own future too, because innovation brings success.”

“Variable compression ratio technology represents a breakthrough in powertrain development,” said Michael Colleran, deputy chairman of INFINITI Motor Company. “The QX50, powered by the VC-Turbo, is the first production vehicle ever to give drivers an engine that transforms on demand, setting a new benchmark for powertrain capability and refinement, so customers can have the best combination of power and efficiency.”

Our INFINITI Dealership near Sugarland has a selection of new 2019 INFINITI QX50 models in stock now. We invite you to come take a test drive and experience all the award winning VC-Turbo engine has to offer.

2019 INFINITI QX30 vs. The Competition

See how the 2019 INFINITI QX30 compares to other crossover vehicles in its class.

The new 2019 INFINITI QX30 is the first ever INFINITI crossover. This clever luxury vehicle delivers versatility, smart technology and efficiency all within a beautiful and comfortable space. When compared to other popular luxury crossovers the new QX30 holds its own with similar standard and available features.

Although the QX30 has a smaller footprint than its larger SUV siblings, its body is longer than competing vehicles in its class. With a body length of 174.2 inches, the QX30 is longer than the 2018 Audi Q3 and the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class. The longer body style allows for more front row legroom, to the tune of 41.3 inches in the QX30 compared to 40 inches in the Audi Q3 and 40.2 inches of front row legroom in the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.

INFINITI QX30 Interior

For drivers who tackle steep inclines, the INFINITI QX30 has the attractive bonus of standard Hill Start Assist. This feature prevents rollback when traveling, braking and accelerating on hills. Hill Start Assist is standard on Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and the BMW X1 but not available on the Audi Q3. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is also available on the QX30, as well as on the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA Class and the BMW X1.

New INFINITI QX30 owners will also enjoy many standard and available driver assist and safety features. These features include the available Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection that provides a 360° bird’s eye view of the vehicle and alerts the driver to any detected objects moving nearby. Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection is not available for the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class or the BMW X1.

Our Houston INFINITI Dealership recommends the new 2019 INFINITI QX30 as the best option in the luxury crossover market, of course we are a bit biased. We invite you to continue your research and stop by to test drive this versatile and capable new vehicle soon.
